Kaloiatri or Kataphiani (also known as Sagari or Sagori) was a type of 18th century Albanian doctor. empiricist and pagan doctor and surgeon, originating from the region of Zagori, in Mitschikeli.
These doctors worked all over the Ottoman Empire and studied in European schools. They were also known as Zagorists who worked according to tradition passing down knowledge from father to son. Their practice as first documented by Pouqueville. The practice is said to have originated from the region of Lake Janina during the realm of Ali Pasha of Tepelena. Though the practice was entirely empirical, it was considered witchcraft and the patient was allowed to drink only brandy during the procedure to avoid fever. In German, the term was known as Feldscherer.
