Masakrate Osmane (1648 – 1718) ndaj Katolikeve-Arber dhe Shkaterrimi i shume Kishave monumentale.
On this day 368 years ago this heart breaking massacre took place in Albania and modern day Kosove, it was perpetrated by the Ottoman Turks. From the year 1648 until 1718, the Ottoman Turks killed over 725 catholic priests, 80 Franciscan Monks and 200 Catholic Worshipers. (Modern estimate) ,the cities that these horrific massacres occurred were Prizren, Durres And Shkoder.
In those cities in total over 15 churches where demolished, Kisha e Shen Mehillit Shkoder (1322-1710), kisha e Shen Markut Shkoder (1568-1688), kisha Zoja e mire Durres (1499-1710), Kisha Shen Gjonit Prizren 1499-1687) Kisha e Shen Zefit puntor (1600-1689) Kisha e zojes e Prizrenit (1509-1709) and much more.
These horrific and grotesque images are a testament to Turkish/Ottoman brutality, many images like these where painted and there is over 205 paintings like this over Albania and Italy. This brutality caused the second wave of Albanians (Arberesh) to Migrate to Italy. May these priests and worshipers rest in peace for they have endured much, all they did was worship God and serve people and they still received a painful and barbaric death which no human deserves.
