In 1932, the Krasniqi Family from Breznica of Kastrioti, were victims of Serbo-Montenegrin colonist settlers. The new settlers began harrassing the Albanians, particularly the Krasniqi family. It began with the Montenegrin settlers offending Albanian girls who were collecting water. The Montenegrins also threw the girls bucket in the well. Hoxhe Breznica, when hearing of this, acted.
The Albanian family had settled on Breznica 520 years ago and were natives. From 1912, the Kingdom of Serbia had begun colonizing Albanian territories with Slav immigrants from Montenegro. Around 57 Montenegrin families were brought upon already inhabited Albanian villages. Regarding the Serbian colonization policy, the most credible and reliable document is the book (doctorate) of the Serbian author – Dr. Millovan Obradović entitled: “Agrarian reform and colonization of Kosovo (1918 – 1941), published by the Institute of History of Kosovo in 1981.
When hearing upon the Montenegrins insulting the Albanian females, he armed himself with an axe and attacked the Montenegrins. However, Idriz was shot in the mouth. This escalated violently, resulting in several Albanians being killed by the Montenegrins settlers, as well as houses being burned down. When the Montenegrins tried to forcibly enter, the youngest brother Beqiri decapitated the Montenegrin. During this event, Idriz Breznica was injured and his brothers, Avdullahu and Ademi, were killed.
The fifth Albanian who participated in the struggle was Zejnullah, brother of Mulla Idrizi, who, as a sign of revenge against the thugs who carried out a massacre right in their house, forced the Montenegrin colonists and families to leave the village.
Folklore
Many Albanian rhapsodes sing of this event.
