When Albanians lived in Grbalje near Kotor, in Cërmnica and Burmaz in Stolac, Hercegovina.

Written by Petrit Latifi

“In the 14th century, “Arbanenses” appeared with their national names among the peasants of the Grbalje parish near Kotor, as well as in the now purely Serbian Crmnica valley in the northwest of Lake Shkodër. The name of the pastoral municipality Burmazi or Burmazovići in the Stolac county in Herzegovina, which has been mentioned since 1300 is derived from of the Arban (Albanian) personal name Burmaz (“great man”). In Montenegro, purely Arbanian names of places in regions where nobody speaks Arbanian anymore catch the eye: Šinđon (Arbanian St. John)”
