The last Ulcinj galleon that sailed for piracy in the Adriatic Sea was that of the Ulcinj Reis Sefulla Karakurt. This Reis built a galleon so large in Ragusa (Dubrovnik) that he equipped it with 30 cannons and 60 corsairs in the crew. The Venetians were terrified when they saw it leaving the port of Old Dubrovnik and informed the Sultan about Karakurt’s activity.
The Sultan sent two firmans to stop his activity. One to the Pasha of Shkodra in November 1776, and the second in April 1777 to the Kadis, the Agallars and the Commander of Ulcinj, asking them to seize the ship and stop the activity of the Ulcinj people in the Adriatic Sea.
Поморски музеј Црне Горе writes in the “Годишњак Volumes 12-15“, published in 1964:
“[…] clear before the justice that the aforementioned Dulcignotto Caracurti has given himself to piracy, causing the above-described annoyances to the Venetians, you will take away from him, for example from the others, the ship and with the execution of the punishment that is due to him, you will put your study and strength in the particular of repressing his arrogance, also making use of all your accuracy so that in the future the Venetians do not succumb through the work of the Dulcignotti, against the imperial capitulations, to the slightest annoyance; corrected and punished those who dare. and executed. with the intelligence of their commanders against those…”1
The Sultans decree against the Ulqin pirtes of 1776
