Montenegrin Morača, Pješivac, Martinići and Bjelonavići tribes have an Albanian origin

Written by Petrit Latifi

According to linguist Henrik Barić, the Montenegrin tribes of Pješivac, Martinići and Bjelonavići derive from the Albanian Gruda and Hoti tribes. In the book “Arhiv za arbanasku starinu, jezik i etnologiju” we can read the following on page 145:

Translation:

“We know that the ancestors of some of our tribes came from Malesia; thus the ancestors of the Pješivac, Martinić tribes in Bjelonavlići came from Grud and below Hotski Hum (“Settlements and origin of the population, book XV). Hence, the ancestor of the Moracans is the same.”
