Albanian Vilayets (1881-1912) and Nemanjics invasion of Albania (1196-1355)

Azem Kovaçi. April 2024. Translation by Petrit Latifi

To understand what Albanian lands were like in the Middle Ages and what they were like in 1912 on the eve of the fall of the Ottoman Empire, look at and compare the maps which are polar opposites.

1) The first map shows that it was all Serbian, so the Slavs dominated our lands for centuries, We have over 40% of the toponyms left

2) The second map shows that the Albanians had regained all their lands, even ruling over the Slavs and Greeks for 500 years thanks to the Arnaut-Ottoman co-rule.
