In 1999, a Serbian officer, on Easter Sunday, ordered the parish priest to separate the Albanians who had taken refuge in the Shna Ndout church in Gllogjan, Peja, into Muslims and Catholics.
Dom Kelmend Spaqi (originally from Spaçi i Mirdita), parish priest at the Shna Ndout church, in front of the machine gun, replied to the Serbian officer: “There are no Muslims or Catholics here. These are all innocent Albanians in their own country. Before you do this, kill me, then the sisters of honor, and then carry out your criminal plan.”
