Contrary to Serbian propaganda, the Albanian League of Prizren never massacred Christians in the Balkans. Instead, they protected them. In the publication “Britain, the Albanian Question and the Demise of the Ottoman Empire 1876-1914” by Daut Dauti we read:
“St. John, in his dispatches from Prizren, often warned London that the Albanian League was about to massacre the Christian population. It was true that there were cases when Christians were mistreated by desperate Albanian refugees and angry bashi-bazouks. Yet the massacres predicted by St. John never took place and he never informed London that the plan of the League was to protect the Christian population. He did not recognise the League or its leaders, whom he called tribal chieftains. He also sent incorrect information about the number of Albanian villages bordering Montenegro and the religion of their inhabitants.”
