Meropch or Neropch means “servant”

The Meropch or Neropch people were related to Albanians.
“Oneclass of peasants was free, but the laws mention another class, who are called meropch or neropch, a non-Serbian word, of which the meaning is obscure.2 Somepersons suppose it originally indicated such cultivatorsof the soil as the Serbian (Albanian) immigrants may have found in the country after it had been harried by the Avars”.3
