The Tribuna: Albanian freedom fight against the Serbian tyranny of 1924

Petrit Latifi

In 1924, Albanian freedom fighters, both young and old, rose against the Serbian, Montenegrin and Yugoslav tyranny, who had been massacring Albanians non-stop since 1912. The newspaper Tribuna in Rome reported on the matter on September 30, 1924 from Tivar.

The Dutch newspaper “Heldersche Courant” published this article in 1924.

“Rome, 30 Sept. The “Tribuna” reports from Bari: The Albanians of all ranks and ages have taken up arms and have advanced to the points of the disputed territory which have been occupied for the last few days by Serbian troops and Montenegrin bands. A bloody clash between Albanians and Serbians has taken place at Selcë, which the Serbians had to evacuate. The Serbians retreated to Vermosh, where they have entrenched themselves.”
