According to the Dutch paper “Leidsche Courant” from 1924, the devestating revolts in Albania in the years 1920-1924 was planned and initiated by Belgrad. On the newspaper we can read:
“Albanian Prime Minister Fan Noli has sent a telegram to the General Secretariat of the League of Nations, in which he explains the current situation in Albania. According to his explanation, the troubles in Albania are supposedly organized on Yugoslav territory. Fan Noli requests the Secretary-General to take steps with the Yugoslav government to put an end to this state of affairs, which poses a serious threat to peace in the Balkans.
The Albanian ambassador in Belgrade handed over to the Yugoslav government a note in which Yugoslavia is accused of supporting the revolutionary movement in Albania. The revolution in Albania, it is said in the note, was prepared in Yugoslavia, and the revolutionary troops were assembled and equipped in Yugoslav territory.
The Albanian government protests against the infringement of the sovereign rights of the Albanian state. The Yugoslav government replied to this note by stating that it went against the usual diplomatic tone and that the accusations contained therein were vigorously rejected.”
