Srpska propaganda i zločini nad Albancima tokom Balkanskog rata 1912. godine

According to the Dutch newspaper “Leiden Courant” from 1912, who published a telegram from Pierre Loti Claude Farrére and a German journalist, there were many cruelties being committed by the Serbian troops against the Albanians. Serbian officials however claimed that “Albanians themselves were setting fire to their own houses”. From the newspaper:

Serbs held foreign journalists captive

“German journalists had reported: We hear it here from all sides, the government contradicts it and claims that not the Serbs, but the Albanians themselves burn their villages before leaving them; However, we cannot check whether the government is telling the truth, because we are being held captive here.”

Daily Chronicle:

“An employee of the Daily Chronicle, who recently returned from Serbia, reports the following: The Serbs have carried out systematic massacres among the Albanians. Hundreds of soldiers, dozens of officers and special persons who should know have given me concurring stories about this.”

Rivers in Uskub (Shkup, Skopje) filled with Albanian corpses

“Dozens of officers have told me that the rivers in those regions have simply been dammed by the corpses. In most cases, the so-called search for weapons consisted of people being shot in cold blood in their homes or having delusions.”

“During the last night I spent in Uskub, 38 men of a patrol were captured and shot; their bodies were thrown into the river. The Serbs are not trying to subdue the Albanians, they want to destroy them. Soldiers of all ranks have told me: “We want to exterminate them, that is the most practical method.”

“A soldier in Uskub invited me to join his troop on a punitive expedition. The lieutenant, the major and the captain repeated the invitation urgently, they would give me a rifle and 250 rounds of ammunition and I would get to see something. This invitation alone does much to confirm all the terrible stories I have heard.”
