When Serbs invaded Kallmet of Zadrima in Shkodër and Lezhë in 1921

Petrit Latifi

Despite the Serbian governments promise of respecting Albanian national integrity, the Serbs continued with their imperialist expansionist chauvinism. Between 1912 to 1927, there were continous attacks and assault on Albanians around Kosovo and Albania. Of particular interest is the Serbian Yugoslav assault on Kallmet of Zadrima near Shkodër and Lezhë in 1921.

“The “Epoca” reports that the population of Mirdita, in northern Albania, has risen in revolt and declared independence. The Albanian government has sent troops to restore order. At the same time, the Serbs are said to have occupied Kallmet in Zadrima, near Scutari, while Albanian troops are concentrating at Lezhë to resist the Serbs.”
