Icelandic newspaper: Serbian troops burned more than 1000 Albanian villages in 1914

In 1914, the Icelandic paper “Vísir Tölublað” published an article reporting that the Serbian troops burned more than a thousand villages in Albanian inhabited regions.

“In the state, which is called Kossovo in Serbia, many Albanians live. The Serbs attacked them, slaughtered adults and children by the hundreds, and burned more than a thousand towns. It causes terror to these people that the Albanians had demanded that Albanian should be a school language in Albanian localities, but the Serbs could not tolerate that and wanted to forcefully oppress them to teach in the Serbian language.”
