Norwegian newspaper in 1923: Markos Botzaris (Marko Boçari) was an Albanian

Petrit Latifi

In 1923, the Norwegian paper “Aftenposten” published an article on the history of the Albanians. The author states that Marko Botzaris was an Albanian as was his army and Miaulis and Kanaris.

“Because of the Turkish rule, many already migrated centuries ago. In southern Italy now live approx. 100,000, in Greece approx. 14 million. For this other fatherland, these Albanians made great sacrifices during the Greek freedom struggle; Botzaris, the hero of Missolongi, was an albaner, and his whole army, as well as the sea heroes Miaulis and Kanaris.”
