Serbian atrocities against Bulgarians in 1914

Petrit Latifi

Serbian atrocities against Albanians, Turks and Muslims of the Balkans continued from 1912 for decades to come. Eventually, in 1914, they spread to Bulgarians as well. In the paper “Alpenländer-Bote” we can read the following:

“The reports of the Bulgarian population fleeing Serbia, who are reporting great atrocities, massacres and cruelties that were committed by the Serbs against Bulgarians. Justice must be done to the Serbs, even though they are our enemies. In New Serbia, where many Bulgarians live, the old saying will be: tit for tat. The Bulgarians, of course, do not want to be involved”.
