In 1913, Albanian troops attacked the Serbian invasion troops and forced them to flee from the region of Skalo, an older name for Saranda.

“Durazzo, 23 January. In recent days, Albanian gangs attacked the small garrisons set up by the Serbs near Skalo (Sarandë) and other places and forced the crews to flee.”
