When an Albanian watchmaker kept a watch safe for a German captain for over 30 years

Nuh Sahatçia, a well-known watchmaker from Shkodra.

In 1944 Nuh received a precious watch from a German captain to repair. The war ended and the German left without getting the watch. After 30 years, in 1968, he returned as a tourist and timidly asked for the watch. Nuh Sahatçia had kept it with devotion and returned it, without accepting a reward. As a thank you, the German gave him his own personal watch. This true story was made into a film by director Gjergj Mazi, with the title “Sahatçia” to show the honesty and noble character of Albanians.
