The Greek massacre of General Tellini, Major Corti, Lieutenant Bonacini, Forneti and the Albanian translator Craveri in 1923

Greek terrorism and Megali chauvinism was something that Albanians were forced to endure since 1912. Through out the decade, this hellenist expansionism continued. In 1923, these Greek terrorists treacherously murdered the following: General Tellini, Major Corti, First Lieutenant Bonacini, the driver Forneti and the Albanian translator Craveri.

“The Albanian embassy in Nom submitted the following report to Ag. Stefani regarding the events of the 27th of this month. The Italian border commission and those of the other interested countries are stationed in Janina. On the 27th of this month, the Italian, Albanian, and Greek delegations traveled from Janina to the border in separate cars. The Albanian commission drove first, followed by the Italian and lastly the Greek.

Near Delvinaki, on Greek soil and still approximately 20 kilometers from the Albanian border, the Italian commission was stopped by an armed Greek gang, and General Tellini, Major Corti, First Lieutenant Bonacini, the driver Forneti, and the Albanian interpreter Craveri were treacherously murdered with rifle shots. The horrific act of bloodshed is deeply regretted throughout Albania, and it is an infamous slander to try to make people believe that the crime could have been committed by Albanians.”
