“Pictures from the War Scene. The Revenge of the Albanian Leader.
A very interesting incident is reported by reliable sources that occurred during the siege of Janina. Bekir Bei, an Albanian leader, had murdered the Greek archimandrite in Korçë three years earlier. To take revenge on him, the Greeks had burned his entire family in a bathhouse.”
Beqir Begu avenged himself by assaulting the Greek invasion troops
“Bekir Bei, who was in Janina, requested permission from the commander of the city of Janina, Essad Pasha, to conduct a solo operation with the Albanian soldiers still in Janina against the Greek troops besieging the city. After receiving this permission, Bekir Bei ambushed a Greek regiment in Lojana at night. The regiment was almost completely massacred by the Albanians, and there were said to have been around a thousand dead. Several prisoners were brought to Janina by the Albanians. The incident is said to have occurred on February 11”.
