According to historian Misha Glenny, the Serbian press in Belgrade in 1913 whipped up hatred among the Serbian population against Albanians. The same press then called for the invasion of Albania, according to an article in the “Pustertaler Bote” from 1913. The article also mentions the Hoti and Gruda tribe kicking out the Montenegrin invaders. It also mentions Serbian atrocities against Albanian shepherds and stealing Albanian cattle.

Serb theft of Albanian shepherd cattle
“Only now is precise information available about the cause of the Albanian revolt against the Serbs in the Kosovo Valley. The Serbian troops requisitioned numerous cattle, and the Albanian shepherds offered resistance. To break this resistance, twelve shepherds were executed. The revolt then broke out, and numerous sulfurs also came to the aid of the insurgents from purely Albanian areas”
