The Serbo-Greek plan to partition Albania in 1920

Petrit Latifi

In 1920, Serbia (Yugoslavia) and Greece made up a chauvinist imperialist plan against Italy to partition Albania. The Albanian rebels who oppossed the Albanian government were financed by Serbia. A report mentioned the smuggling of arms and weapons across the border of Greece. This Slavo-Greek plan however failed.

From the “Alpenland” from 1920:

“Fake agreements between Yugoslavs and Albanian rebels.

Rome, July 19. (Corrburo.) According to the newspapers, Prime Minister Giolitti has brought a report by Minister Baron Miotti on Albania to the attention of the Council of Ministers. Giornale d’Italia believes that Miotti’s report reveals secret agreements concluded between the Albanian rebels and leading Yugoslav figures. The report also reveals extensive smuggling of weapons and military equipment by the rebels across the Greek border. It is said to be a comprehensive plan against Italy, organized by Yugoslavia and Greece, to bring about the partition of Albania.”
