How the French Slavophiles armed Greater Serbian imperialism in 1927

Petrit Latifi

It is well known that the French serbophiles would often support Serbia and the Greater Serbian imperialism. French papers would in the years of 1912 often post sympathetic articles on Serbian expansionist interests. This Slavophile tendency would continue well into the 1920s.

In 1927, the “Innsbrucker Nachrichten” published an article about Italy oppossing the French military investments in Serbian Yugoslavia, thus threatening both Albanias and Italys geographical interests.

The author criticizes that France has been arming Serbia.

“It is too late to invoke the spirit of the League of Nations against an allegedly military intervention by Italy when France has long been rebuilding Greater Serbia by sending steamers with warplanes, machine guns, and ammunition to the Slavic seas”.
