The Greek, Serbian and Montenegrin invasion of Albania in 1912 were worse than the Turkish campaign

Petrit Latifi

In 1913, the “Tiroler Stimmen” published an article writing, among other things, that the Greek, Serb and Montenegrin invasion of Albania in 1912, these neighbors coming as “liberators”, was worse than the Turkish devestation of the country.

Cited:

“The founding of the Albanian state is taking place amidst the most terrible birth pangs. The country was repeatedly and horribly devastated by the Turks in the years before the Balkan War. Then Montenegrins, Serbs, and Greeks invaded the country as liberators and lived there even worse than the Turks.

The already poor country was systematically plundered and devastated, and thousands of its inhabitants were slaughtered. The borders of the new state have still not been determined, and the southern part is still under the control of the Greeks. The constitution, which the new state received from the Great Powers, is practically monstrous, in that the princely government will have a controlling commission appointed by all the Great Powers as a secondary government.”
