Greek attacks on the Albanians of Janina in 1913

Petrit Latifi

In 1913, the “Tiroler Stimmen” wrote of the Greek troops attacking the Albanians of Janina. The Albanians then sent a protest to the Great Powers.

“Vlorë, September 10. Because of the constant news arriving here of attacks perpetrated by the Greeks against the Albanian population in Janina and the not yet surrendered Albanian territories, a massively attended meeting was held, at which it was decided to send a telegram of protest to the Great Powers. After the meeting, the participants marched to the Austro-Hungarian and Italian consulates, in front of which they held demonstrations of sympathy. The meeting passed without incident.”
