The 27 men who were killed in the most barbaric way by the Serbian army more than 110 years ago in the village of Gjuzaj will now have a memorial in the Darsi area of Lushnja.
In commemoration of the Serbian massacre of 1913, historian Niko Ferro recounts data on the documentation of the event.
“With the few documents that are kept in the Lushnja Museum, all the names have been placed in the lapidary that was inaugurated. At this moment, the Serbian army crosses the border, crosses Shkumbini, invades Peqin and heads for Lushnja, but it is worth showing the bravery of the inhabitants of this village, who prevented the invaders even though there were consequences,” says historian Niko Ferro, historian, PhD of the Lushnja Museum.
The historian says that there is little information about this event, since it is not even included in the textbooks of Albanian history. “There was resistance. Even though 110 years have passed, history and the truth cannot be forgotten. It is also the fault of the dictatorship, but we cannot find this out because it has not been written until now, but it should be known in history books, at least for elementary schools,” he adds.
The area where the 27 civilians massacred by the Serbian army on March 25, 1913, were buried is known as “Boka e Bardhë”.
