The Italy-Yugoslavia conflict and the Serbian threat against Albania in 1921

Petrit Latifi

In 1921, the “Brixener Chronik” published an article from the paper “Tribune” on the conflict between Yugoslavia and Italy and the Serbian threat to invade Albania. Albania respected the border integrity but Yugoslavia violated the agreement.

Cited:

“Italian-Yugoslav conflict.

A statement by the Belgrade government announcing military action on the Albanian border caused a great stir in Italy. The Albanians have allegedly already crossed the demarcation line. The “Tribune” writes: This announcement is outrageous and creates a serious situation. Albania has respected the border, but Yugoslavia has entered Albanian territory. Since Italy’s evacuation of Valona, Yugoslavia has openly expressed its intention to seize Albania. Belgrade’s measures are an insult to Italy. The “Giornale d’Italia” considers decisive intervention by the powers necessary. (They will soon have enough of the constant “intervention” everywhere.)”
