Greek rape of Albanian women in Colonia of Epirus in 1914

Petrit Latifi

In 1914, the “Innsbrucker Nachrichten” reported on Greek atrocities and war crimes against Albanians of Colonia of Epirus.

Cited:

“Unrest in Epirus. Durazzo, May 4. Great excitement is caused by the official report that the numerous Epirote insurgents, supported by Greek soldiers, have taken Colonia after desperate resistance from the small Albanian gendarmerie detachment stationed there, expelled the gendarmerie, and murdered women and girls. The city was set on fire, and the further advance began. The mood against Greece is becoming increasingly heated. Numerous public meetings are taking place, loudly calling for reprisals against Greece”
