When the Turks gave the Albanian Trebishtë zone to Montenegro in 1912

In 1912, the Bozner Zeitung published an article about an event at the Albanian-Montenegrin border. The Porte (Turks) gave the Albanian region of Eresnika (Trebishtë) to Montenegro which led to a revolt among the Albanian malesori highlanders. The Albanians of Kastrati and Shkula (Chula) fought against the Ottoman troops.

“(Telegrams from the “Bozner Zeitung”.) Constantinople, August 8. Montenegrin circles are of the opinion that the incidents would not be prevented without a settlement of the border disputes and the Porte’s approval of the protocol granting Montenegro the Eresnika zone.

Authentic reports speak of fighting between troops and Malissors near Kastrati and Shkula (Chula) on the Montenegrin border northwest of Scutari. It is said that the Malissors are revolting because of troop movements. It is believed that agitation is also taking place among the Malissors on the Montenegrin side.

The head of the Albanian mission, Ibrahim Pasha, has been appointed interim Wali of Kosovo. Small Albanian delegations arrive on the Kosovo plain and declare that the Albanians of the south agree with the demands put forward by the Albanians of the north.”
