The Bulgarian komitadjis, digsuised as Turkish troops, entered Albanian villages of Kochana in Macedonia and Leshak in Kosovo and forced the peasants to hand over their rifles which the Turkish authorities had given them. The Albanians realized too late what had happened.
“Salonika, August 13. A 60-man Bulgarian gang, disguised as Turkish soldiers and gendarmes, roamed the villages around Kochana (Vilajet of Kosovo) and forced the peasants in the village of Leshak to hand over the rifles they had recently been given by the authorities. The peasants realized only too late who they had been dealing with.”

Bulgarian incursions into Albanian territory in 1895
“Paris, June 27. A note from the Ottoman embassy states that, according to government reports, complete calm prevails in the provinces of Salonika, Monastir, and Kossovo. It is untrue that Albanians are setting fire to villages; only two Bulgarian brigand bands crossed the demarcation line on the Kosovo border. Many were captured by the border guards.”1
