The Albanian revolt of Tirana and Kruja against Serbian invaders in 1913

Petrit Latifi

In 1913, when the Serbian invader forces occupied Albania, the Albanian fighters revolted in many areas. In Krujë and Tirana, the Albanian troops drove the Serbs out. Both Christian and Muslim Albanians united to fight the Serbs.

“Turkeys. An Albanian strike.

An Albanian uprising has broken out in the districts of Tirana and Kruja. The fighting with the Serbian occupation troops has already lasted seven days. In the fighting, the Albanians have succeeded in driving the Serbian garrisons out of the cities of Tirana and Kruja. The Serbs are fleeing to the coast. The able-bodied Albanians retreated to the mountains and are preparing for guerrilla warfare. In the Vilayet of Kossovo, the Catholic and Muslim Albanians have agreed to fight against the Serbs as a common enemy”.
