In 1903, the “Innsbrucker Nachrichten” published a report of Turkish and Bulgarian atrocities committed against each other in Kosovo and other regions.

Bulgarian atrocities in Barzlik and Babyak
“Cruelties in the Orient. We receive a letter from Salonika: An official report contains details of the cruelties committed by the Bulgarians near Barzlik. The insurgents invaded the Turkish village of Babyak; the hamlet of Nico-Halila-ler, consisting of twelve houses, was completely burned down, destroying a large quantity of grain supplies. The farmer Mustafa’s solyn was burned alive.”
Turkish atrocities in Kochana in Kosovo
“But the Turks, too, according to unofficial but nevertheless reliable rumors, were guilty of serious violence. In the Kotcham district (Vilajet Kosovo), the region of Oftche-polia, which consists of the villages of Miritcham, Lezoro, Pautelei, Plechnizi, and Stubliti, was completely devastated by Turkish troops. The village of Beli is now nothing but a shambles. The two German officers, who are in the service of Turkey, have the rank of generals and who arrived with Edib Pasha, went with him to Gherghelli to initiate an investigation into the excesses committed there by a battalion of Rediss and to establish a court-martial to condemn the guilty parties.”
