The memory of two Albanian freedom fighters from Plavë who fell heroically in 1945

Petrit Latifi

In an article from “Plava e Gucia sot”, we can read:

“Two Graves Near Lake Plava – Memory of Two Brave Men. Near Lake Plava lie two brave men who heroically fell in defense of Plava, members of the “Skënderbeg” Battalion. Their names were:

Hamdi Mala Rexhepagaj, from the house of Selman Beg of Plava, scion of the noble family of the Rexhepagaj nobility of the time when Albanianism was deeply rooted in the worthy men of this tribe.

The other is Ahmet Kuçi, his ideal friend. Both were killed behind their backs and with treachery by the communists of Enver and Tito in 1945, at a very young age – around 25 years old. They fell heroically in Matishevo, where the old border with Montenegro once was.

We remember with respect and pride their sacrifice for the homeland.
