When Serbian soldiers would torture Orthodox priests to death outside churches in 1914

In 1914, the “Aussferner Newspaper” published an article on Serbian atrocities against Bulgarian civilians and even priests.

“Revolutionary movements in New Serbia.

Vienna, September 16. The “South Slavic Correspondence” reports from Sofia: The revolutionary movement in New Serbia is growing ever more extensive. Numerous gangs have appeared that are continually committing militias against the Salonika-Leskub railway line, which is used to supply Serbia with war material of French origin.

The Serbian government is using these attacks for bloody reprisals against the Bulgarian rural population. Numerous Bulgarian villages were burned down by Serbian soldiers, and peasants, women, and children were killed. Bulgarian clergy were martyred in front of the churches in the most gruesome manner.”
