In 1925, the “Volkszeitung/Deutsche Volkszeitung” published an article about the Albanian kaçak fighter named “Azem Iljaz Haqafi” who with his 30 men attacked the Serbian forces in Lepine of Lipjan. The local Serbs of Lepine had made accusations against Azemis father who had been thrown in jail. Azem then avenged his father by attacking the Serbian forces in Lepine.

Cited:

“Attack on a Serbian village. While the royal couple spent the night of the 25th of this month on their tour in a special train at the Lipjana station, the community of Lepine, five kilometers away, was simultaneously attacked by a gang of thirty robbers who set fire to several houses and were only chased away after the arrival of the military.

The notorious gang leader Azem Ilazi Haqaku attacked the community of Lepine out of personal revenge, as the local population had made serious accusations against his father, which led to his sentence to prison. In the firefight between the robbers and the local residents and the military, a Serbian farmer and an Arnaut girl were killed. Fourteen houses burned down; none of the soldiers were relocated.”
