In 1928, 400 Serbs and Montenegrins assaulted the Bosnian village of Čelebići, according to an article in the “Neueste Zeitung”.

“Political arsonists in Bosnia.

Reports from Belgrade: In the Bosnian village of Chelebitschi (Čelebići – R.D.) on the Montenegrin border, four hundred Orthodox, i.e.,Serbian, peasants attacked the house of the president of the Muslim organization and set fire to the entire house, which burned down.

This was an act motivated by political motives, which shows how fiercely hostile the Bosnian Muslims and Orthodox (Pravo Slavs) are. The Pravo Slavs feel slighted by the participation of the Muslims in the Wulitschowitsch government. The bitterness was caused by the oversight of some popular Serbian junior officials who had allegedly acted against the Muslim population”.
