How do we know that Albanians were very common in Kotor in 1860? We know it through an article about Prince Danilo Njegosh murder by Todor Kadiqi of the Palabardhe tribe (Bjelopavliq). Apparently, Todor Kadiq dressed as an Albanian in Kotor to make the murder easier. This implies that being dressed as an Albanian in Kotor in the 1860s was very common! So common that no one even suspected you! Cited from an article of the time:

“The murderer of Prince Danilo is called Todor Kadic of Bielopavlovic. According to the Ostd. Post, he is the brother-in-law of a Montenegrin priest named Panissa from the Berda district, who married Kadic’s sister and, because of his hostility towards Danielo, left Montenegro and went to Zara, where Kadic later followed him. While Berde was there, she learned that the priest’s wife had allowed herself to be persuaded by a supporter of the prince to marry someone else. In revenge, Kadic murdered the brother of the man his sister had married in Constantinople in the meantime. The murdered man was the leader of the 3,000 to 4,000 Montenegrins who were working in Constantinople. He then went to Galatz, where he contracted smallpox, which completely disfigured him. From there he returned to Cattaro and, after being expelled, went to Scutari. In Cattaro he appeared disguised as an Albanese to make the murder easier.”
