On July 1880, the paper “Revalsche Zeitung” published an article from “Agence Havas” where it is claimed that Montenegrin troops killed 32 Albanians at Cermanica (Cërmnica), though the Revalsche Zeitung states that is not verified. There is however a statement that the Montenegrins attacked the Albanian villages of Goshiqi (modern day Gošići) and Matagush after having been “provoked”, allegedly.

“Vienna, July 27 (15). The report from the “Agence Havas,” according to which Prince Nicholas called up the entire armed forces of Montenegro from the ages of 16 to 60, has so far found no confirmation. A dispatch received yesterday from Cettinje makes no mention of such a call-up; equally, no one there knew anything about a battle that took place near Cermanica, in which, according to the “Havas,” 32 Albanians were killed.
On the other hand, it is admitted that the Montenegrins, provoked by the constant teasing of the Albanians, attacked the Albanian villages of Gosici and Matagos during the night of the 22nd to the 23rd, burning some of them and killing one Albanian. Prince Nicholas, it is added, condemns this act of revenge and has ordered the punishment of the perpetrators of the attack.”
