The islamization of the Albanian population of Krajë in 1582

According to the Ottoman register of 1582, the Islamization of the population had already begun in the villages of Krajë.

According to this register, the village of Ftilan (Ftjan) had 45 families, 39 Christian and 6 Muslim. Brizoli (Brisku) 42 families, 34 Christian and 8 Muslim. Livari (Ljarja) 49 families, 44 Christian and 5 Muslim. Murigi (Muriqi), 42 families, 38 Christian and 4 Muslim families. Bespodi (Besi dhe Podi) 25 families, 20 Christian and 5 Muslim families. Pençani (Pinçi) 33 families, 27 Christian and 6 Muslim.

Further, in the Shestan Mountains, in the village of Guriza (Gurrza), 34 families, 31 Christian and 3 Muslim. In the village of Dedaq (Dedonj) 31 families, 29 Christian and 2 Muslim. Markoviqi, 33 families, 31 Christian and 2 Muslim. In the other villages of the Shestan Mountains, no Islamized families are recorded up to this time.

The other villages of Krajë: Skjae, Zaganj, Ivrashe, Gjonçaj, Arbnesh, Nadvilë, Bodgozhdan, Runj, Kështenjë, Bobosht and the uninhabited village of Gradoman (?), out of 467 families, 47 were Islamized.

Together with the villages of Shestan, Krajë counted 18 villages with 623 families. In the same year, in the whole of Krajë 92 Krajën families converted to Islam, respectively 14.8% of the total population.

Note: the village of Gradoman according to Joviqević (Grdoman) is located between Muriqi and Gjyraç. Even today, the ruins of this medieval village are visible, where ruins of houses, walls, lamins, etc. can be seen.
