I have long written that Belgrade was an Illyrian-Celtic city. The Scordians, a mixture of Illyrian Celts. What do we do with Albanian history that does not open its mouth?
“The Scordisci are also known as Celts, but here we find them as an Illyrian tribe supported by the Pannonians. It is possible that these were Dardanians from Mount Skardus (Sharr) from where they took the name Scordisci with the Celtic suffix -isk, being in contact with them. Another interesting note is the fact that the Pannonians and the Paeonians appear to be the same.
At first it seems as if Appian confuses them, but it is more likely that the Paeonians came very early from Pannonia as part of some Panno-Balkan invasion, long before the Trojan War. Perhaps panon and paeon are explained by the name of the maple tree, just as Dardan comes from the pear tree.
The fact that the Pannonians, Tribales and Scordisci in this genealogical list are not sons of Illyrian but grandsons/great-grandsons, shows that they were added later, and that the genealogy initially included only the other tribes. The myth must have been created after the Roman conquests, but anyway before the conquest of Dacia.
This also explains the extension of the Illyrian identity, i.e. only in the areas conquered by Rome, since thanks to the roads, better circulation and more intensive contact were enabled, in which case all these tribes note that they had the language and much else in common. Another note is the fact that among the sons and daughters of Illyrian, “others” are also mentioned but not by name, i.e. there were other Illyrian tribes included here but we do not know who they were.
There is no doubt that the Illyrian tribes that we know from other sources and that we do not see here, are included in the “others” and could be, Epirote tribes in the south, or Illyrian tribes from north-western Dalmatia.
This myth is important because here it is not simply the origin of the Illyrians, on the contrary here we see the descendants of the Illyrians, we see the origin of the Albanians. Here the genealogy of the Albanian people begins. So we are the heirs of all the ancient cultures of this peninsula.

So, the presence of the Celts in Avala is known. There was a castle there which was later used by the Romans as a watchtower. Even in the time of the Celts, the Scordis, the Albanian Orthodox, the Ottomans it was used for various purposes, the most important was to control the road, control the arrival in Singidun (today Belgrade) or to protect the ores that were there.

So, Avala was attractive for the mineral industry. Avala got its name from the Ottoman invasion (1442) which meant “Havale” (obstacle to be seen) The Celtic tower was demolished in 1934 by order of the King of Serbia to erect the great Memorial to the Unknown Soldier.
