Albanian mosques in Montenegro during the Ottman era

According to this study, there were roughly 163 mosques and 8 masjids in Montenegro during the Ottoman era. Mosques were built in Tašlica (Plevlja), Tivar, Ulqin, Podgorica, Akovë (Bjelo Polje), Guci, Plav, Nikšić, Berane, Herceg Novi, Kolašin, Rožaje, Tuži, Kotor, 1 Petnica and Vjetër.

From the study:

“As a result of our field, archival and literature research, we identified 163 mosques and 8 masjids in Montenegro during the Ottoman period. It seems that the largest number of mosques, with 29, were built in Tašlica (Plevlja) during the Ottoman period.

After Tašlica, there were 26 in Tivar, 24 in Ulcinj, 15 in Podgorica, 14 in Akovë (Bjelo Polje), 11 in Guci, 8 in Plav, 7 in Nikšić, 4 in Berane, 3 in Herceg Novi, 3 in Kolašin, 3 in Rožaje, 3 in Tuži, 1 in Kotor, 1 in Petnica and 11 in Vjetër. Of these, 89 are active, 5 are in ruins and 71 no longer exist.”
