In this article from 1862, we can read that Albanian tribal forces of Hoti and Kuqi blockaded the towns of Spuz, Zhablak and Sadgutza against the Turkish forces. On the Ottoman side, Albanians of the Bashi-bouzukis deserted Hussein Pashas forces.
“The Emperor’s letter from Britain is to be received in Paris and returned in the Tuileries. According to the latest news from Albania, the Montenegrin Prince Nicholas had succeeded in winning over the Turkish, Greek, and Catholic leaders captured at Czernitza (Cërmnica) to his cause. Assan-Hotti (Hasan Hoti) the most influential of them, had been appointed vizier of all the rebellious districts.
The Hotti’s (Hot tribe), who are Catholic, had united with the Kutschi’s (Kuqi) and together blockaded Zabliak (Zhablak), Sadgutza, and Sputsch (Shpuz) so that with the exception of these three fortresses, the Turks had already taken all the land from the western shore of Lake Scutari to the small lake Hun.
The Bashi-Bozuks refused to join the Turks. Many deserted from Hussein Pasha’s corps. The situation was said to be so critical that Omer Pasha left his headquarters in Mostar and fled to Albania. The five-day deadline set in the ultimatum, within which Prince Nicholas was to withdraw his troops, has expired without the threatened hostilities against him having begun.”
