When Italian “Garibaldis” forces invaded the Albanian town of Spiç (Spizza) in 1861

In 1861, Italian forces of Giuseppe Garibaldi, an italian national hero, invaded the region of Spiç, at the time an Albanian town northeast of Shkodër.

Cited:

“Constantinople, March 27. After the Garibaldist invasion of Spizza (a Turkish town in Albania, Northeast of Scutari), the representatives of the foreign powers insist on the dispatch of a mixed commission to Herzegovina. — The Porte refuses to submit its reform projects to the commission because it fears the resumption of the project of a perpetual conference. The powers have declared that they leave the responsibility for their actions to the Porte.”
