Serbian and Bulgarian soldiers killed 150,000 Muslims in Macedonia in 1912-1913

In the book “Rumeli’den Türk göçleri during the Balkan War, 1912-1913” authored by Ahmet Halaçoğlu in 1994, we find various documents and reports stating that Serbian and Bulgarian forces massacred 150,000 Muslims (Albanians and Turks) in Macedonia. There were also atrocities in the villages of Dedeağaç and Kavala and in Thessaloniki.

Cited:

“It is reported that in Macedonia, 150,000 Muslims were exterminated through various forms of torture. In a report published by the newspaper Hikmet, taken from the Christian publication Berliz Tağbalat (برليز تغبلات) and printed under the title “The Brutality of the Balkan Peoples,” the following was stated:

“The oppression of Muslim Turks in the Balkans continued with increasing intensity during the Balkan War, and the Bulgarians continued to brutally exterminate Muslims in the territories they occupied. Unable to endure these oppressions, many continued to migrate, enduring various hardships.”

“In fact, Bulgarian, Serbian and Greek gangs carried out attacks on Muslims in the areas they occupied, attacks that have no precedent in history. For example, the massacres of Bulgarian and Greek gangs in Dedeağaç continued from Friday to Sunday.

There are also documents about the atrocities committed by Bulgarians and Greeks in Dedeağaç and Kavala. The atrocities committed by Bulgarians and Greeks against Muslims and Jews in Thessaloniki are being investigated by the Inquisition.”

“He replied: “We, whose inhabitants are Muslims, Christians and Jews, are travelling to European centres to tell of the Bulgarian brutality. There are only 189,000 Bulgarians against the population of 1,229,572 in Rumelia (Thrace). How can so many Muslims, Greeks and Jews be handed over to the Bulgarians? The Thracians prefer to perish under the ruins of their cities rather than fall under the Bulgarian yoke.”
