The Albanian-Serbian border situation in Jankova Klisura in 1843

In this passage of the book “Razbojna” we can read of a briefing which Mr. Jovan Vukomanovic, Assistant Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, received regarding the Albanian (Arnaut) forces around the border of Jankova Klisura.

“On August 9, 1843, while touring border crossings and guard posts, the Assistant Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Mr. Jovan Vukomanović, at a briefing at the Jankova Klisura guard post, learned that the Arnauts had multiplied around the guard post, and that the border fence had collapsed. The Arnauts from Kosovo are especially strong, demanding blood for every one of our transgressions.”

Location of Jankova Klisura. This valuable information shows us where the old border between Albanians and Serbs lay in the 19th century.
