There exists various Serbian documents mentioning the Albanians of Perzhiqi (Przici) of Čučala, who lived there in the 1870s before the Serbian expulsion. We can also find information on the Albanian defence of Blatašnica during the Serbo-Turkish war, as well as names of Albanians in Jankova Klisura, Pločnik and Točani.
Albanians of Pločnik and Točani
“When the advance guard of the Left Column (the Čačak Brigade) arrived near the village of Pločnik, it was met with fire from the Arnauts in two waves, with stronger ambushes (about one platoon strong), which the advance guard dispersed with its fighting. At that time, patrols from the left wing reported that the Arnauts were gathering in significant numbers on the right bank of the Toplica near the village of Točani. One reason for this, and mainly because”.1
Albanians of Točani and Barlovo
“With his adjutant Lieutenant Mashina and several cavalry orderlies, he also overran Toplica and rode to Točani, calling on the Arnauts to surrender. The Arnauts were just retreating over the mountain, firing their rifles. On his return to Barlovo, Lieutenant Mashina came across several loaded carts with various household goods that the Arnauts had left behind while fleeing from our army.
In one of those carts, a small 2-year-old male child in sandals and nicely dressed was screaming. The divisional commander took pity on the abandoned poor child, put him on his horse and covered him with his greatcoat. When they crossed Toplica and reached the road, the child was fed and immediately sent to the hodja in Prokuplje. Later, she surrendered to him and was found by her mother.”2
Albanians Emin Mehovi from Sibnica, Adem Ahmeti, Mon Ajdani, Rexha Ibrahimi of Cucala, and Fejza Rexha and Zumber Sinani from Kurshumli meeting in Jankova Klisura
“.. Arnauts Emin Meović from Sibnica, Adem Ametović, Mon Ajdanović and Redža Ibraimović from Čučalo and Fejza Redžić from Kuršumlija to the meeting room of Jankova klisura, but a certain Zumber Sinanović from Jeplica, who was there for about 2 hours the same day before them”.3
Arnauts of Pržići (Perzhiqi)
“… The Arnauts are from the village of Čučala and are called Pržići.”4
Albanians defending Čučala in 1877
“Order of the commander of the Čuchala camp on the treatment of Arnauts who surrender and the prohibition of taking food out of occupied villages, Čuchala, December 20, 1877.
Since word has spread that the Arnauts will surrender, I am drawing the attention of the commanders to be more careful in this, so that the Arnauts do not surrender us under the guise of surrender.”5
Albanians defending Blatašnica
“… The Arnauts , after a desperate fight, retreated to the heights east of Blatašnica. Since the advancing Blatašnica could not be overrun, Commander Binički ordered the fight to cease at noon and for the troops to take up positions near Čučalo“.6
