Avram the Albanian from Wallachia who fought against the Serbian forces during the Battle of Dobrnjac in Paraćin in 1810

In the book “Velikani Srbije u XVIII i XIX veku” from 1979 by Gojko Desnica, we can read of the Battle of Dobrnjac in 1810 during the “Great Moat” in Veliki šanac. In this battle, an Albanian named Avram , from Wallachia who settled in Dobrnjac died fighting the Serbian forces. There was also a massacre of the Albanian population a few years earlier.

Cited:

“Avram, an Arnaut near Dobrnjac, a newcomer from Wallachia, not a Serb) died in the Great Moat. The Serbs had a large retinue, with which they frightened the Turks, but this too disintegrated, when once (illegible word) it seems to have been overcrowded.

We can also read of the Serbian massacre of the Albanian population in 1805

“They sent deputies and began to discuss surrender. The Serbs allowed them to go to Arnautluk without weapons. Half of the city separated from them; but the Serbs, on their faith, slaughtered all men and women. Then the half that remained in the city did not retreat to the field but held out for about an hour at 6 o’clock.”
