In this article we publish interesting information of unknown and forgotten Albanian katuns, tribes and clans. We also show old Albanian personalities of the 19th and 20th century.
The Alilovit (Halilovit) tribe
The Albanian immigrant family is Alilovit (13th century). It immigrated at the beginning of the 19th century from Northern Albania, from the Berisha fis.1
The Matjan tribe
“Arbanasi clans: Matnjan (7 k), they originated from the area of the same name in Northern Albania. They say that they lived in Matla in the place Đuri kuch (Red Stone, alb. Guri Kuq)”.2
The Albanian katuns of Goljemade (Golemadhe), Beri, Ozrihne, Goričane (Guri i čane) and Krusi (Krushi)
“… katun: Goljemade, Beri, Ozrihne, Goričane and Krusi (1452; the first three are mentioned earlier, in 1444, as villages). The first bears a purely Arbanasi name, so it probably contained Arbanasi or was originally Arbanasi. In addition to Zeta, Arbanasi were also settled in the vicinity of Kotor; they were farmers, cattle breeders and kiridžija. They also often attacked and robbed Kotor caravans), as the Vlachs burned the railways. and certainly in the vicinity of Kotor.”3

The Albanian tribal name Baji (Bajic)
“It should be noted that the name Bajic is hardly Serbian or Slavic at all; and in Albania, to the east of Shkodër, there is still a village of the same name.”5
The Albanian clans of Marevc (Marevac) and Sulja (Suljović) in Toponica and the Albanians of Gadisha and Žegovca (Zhegovc)
“The Albanian clans of the village of Marevac and the oldest Albanian clan (Suljović) in Toponica… Thus, the Arbanasi clans of the villages of Gadisha and Žegovca left Gornja Morava (the village of Partes), because they did not like the plain. For the same reason, they left Gornja Morava”6
The Albanians of Zdrčana, Zazbuna, Langa and Borovo
“Namely, the Albanian inhabitants of the villages of Zdrčana and Zabzuna are called Latins by the Serbs. Zabzun, an Albanian village, has about 180-200 homes. Next to it is the hamlet of Langa, also Albanian. Borovo, an Albanian village, about 100 homes. There is a legend that the village was founded by Vlach cattle breeders (Cincari). Even now, Albanians do not speak the pure Albanian language, but rather a dialect of Albanian.”7
The Albanian village of Pokovac
“Mr. Pavle Kozeljac, head of the Pozarovac district, upon his arrival in the Arnaut-Pokovac village, was invited to distribute 12 dinars of cheese found in the forest to the students of the Arnaut-Pokovac secondary school, in 1882”.8
