Preng Marka Prenga was born in Orosh in 1858 and died in this same place in 1955. He is known as the leader of the Orosh bajrak for a long period, almost half a century (20th century). His name is mentioned in all diplomatic correspondence with foreign chancelleries of the leaders of Mirdita during the period of Independence and afterwards.
The Orosh bajraktari has the honor and historical merit of being at the head of the Mirdita movement for freedom and national independence, leading the Mirdita rebels in the well-known uprisings of this region and beyond, in the years 1911 and 1912.
In April 1919, Preng Marka Prenga, at the behest of Abbot Doç, raised the flag of the uprising at the church of Saint Mark in Fan, in a large assembly. In June of that same year, the fighters of the 12 bajraks of Mirdita, supported by those of Lura, Luma, Mati and Dibra, led by Preng Marka Prenga, attacked Lezha to liberate it from the Turkish rulers and managed to take control of the castle and the entire city.
This was the beginning of the fighting actions of these insurgents that would be followed by other important battles for months, on the Kreshtë-Gomsiqe line, etc.
Preng Marka Prenga symbolizes the type of popular leader of Mirdita, the wise and wise old man, who knows and applies the docket, the canon, etc. He died in Orosh in 1955.
In the period of Independence and in subsequent political events, a number of other patriotic figures also stood out, such as Colonel Toma of Vela, Zef Ndoci of Spaç, Ndue Përdeda of Gojan, Preng Tuc Doda of Fani, Bardhok Preng Bajraktari of Kthellë, major officer Preng Jaku of Bulgri, etc.
